Kynttiläpaja Kalevantuli
Kynttiläpaja Kalevantuli is a newly-founded business based in At the moment our workshop is located in Multia. Besides myself, I employ 1-2 seasonal staff. The
candles are carefully cast and dipped by hand, and sold out through our own
workshop outlet and the authorised resellers. We are also in the process of
setting up an online shop. Sahralinna Café During the summers, we also operate the Sahralinna Café. Sahralinna
Café is a summer café, situated in the Sahralinna
Youth Association Hall in the heartlands of Multia,
right beside the largest piece of wilderness in We welcome all summer tourists to our café. There
you will find a pleasant atmosphere and a workshop outlet with candles and
Fair Trade goods. Soy Candle In Autumn 2007 we are bringing out a new,
ecologically friendly candle product. The main ingredient in our soy candle is soy wax and
is produced from soybean oil. The most important advantages of using soy wax
in candles instead of paraffin are that it is renewable and entirely
toxin-free. Many consumers are unaware that paraffin is created
as a byproduct from petroleum refining. When
burning, the petrol-based substance will release harmful vapours, of which
some are classed toxic. Paraffin also produces soot when burning, which can
stain the surfaces and even cause difficulties of breathing for the
sensitive. Soy wax produces up to 90% less soot than paraffin, and it does
not release harmful toxins or allergens into the air. The wax we use is made
of soy that has not been genetically manipulated. Soy candle is also a good alternative for plant stearin candles, as many stearin
candles are made of palm wax. The majority of palm oil is produced on
plantations built on cut-down rain forests. Our soy candles are also suitable for those leading a
vegan life, as they do not contain any animal ingredients, such as animal stearin or beeswax. Because the soy candle burns in lower temperatures,
it is safer then the traditional paraffin candle and will burn 30-50% longer.
Any stains are easily washed off from fabrics and surfaces with soap water,
and solvent such as white petroleum spirit are not needed. The lovely cream colour and the light butterscotch
scent has not been changed with additives. Kalenvantuli uses only unbleached cotton wicks and recycled
paper labels in soy candles. Candle burning instructions Like all table candles, also Kynttiläpaja
Kalevantuli candles should be burnt to the edge. This is important especially
on the first few occasions you burn it to avoid the tunnel effect. If you
only burn the candle half an hour at the time, the thick edges will not burn,
and the flame will burn a deep hole around the wick. When burning paraffin-stearin
candles, it takes around 2-4 hours to burn them to the edge, depending on the
size of the candle, and a little longer for soy candles. Soy candles have a
“memory”, in the sense that it will burn only as far as the liquefied soybean
oil reached the previous time. If you want to get the most out of your soy
candle, you should burn it to the edge the first time. Please note, that
despite the long burning time the soy candle will leave a thin, shell-like
residue, which works like a beautiful and unique lantern, protecting the
flame. We only use high-quality materials and the candles
are always tested before releasing them for sale. Our goal is to produce
table candles that only drip a little, but we think that a candle that
doesn’t drip at all has lost a part of its appeal. Of course we want our
candles to burn and not leak, but a small amount of drainage is
characteristic to the product and the layers of dripping wax are often like
works of art! However, the antique candles are non-dripping if you burn them
out of draft. Never leave a burning candle unattended – and who would want to
leave such a beautiful thing out of their sight… Contact: |
